KCBC Marble of Doom IV Sour
In the late 1800's Brooklyn was home to one of the largest concentrations of breweries in the country. Bushwick, Brooklyn specifically was home to a massive German community and was itself home to 14 breweries known as Brewery Row. In fact Brooklyn was responsible for producing about 10% of all the beer sold in the country at the turn of the 20th Century. In 1976, the last of Brooklyn's breweries closed their doors (Rheingold and Schaefer) and Brooklyn was left dormant for almost 20 years until the revival in the Mid 90's.

Over the last few years, the renegade team at Kings County Brewers Collective (The Borough of Brooklyn is official Kings County, New York for one that is not paying attention). Specializing in comic inspired designed cans, this brewery has caught my attention when I first found them at a now shuttered beer market on the upper west side. The craft butcher Hudson & Charles often stocks them on draft and fills growlers to go. In my recent visit in our quarantined state they had cases of cans in stock of Marble of Doom. I have been getting everything from potatoes, steak, chicken, and ground beef as well as HP Sauce, rolls, eggs, and other locally sourced vegetables in this crazy shopping environment. Safely letting only 2-3 people in at a time, Hudson & Charles has become a become a neighborhood gold mine right now of everything for the Paleo Upper West Side Urban Bearded Woodsmen (Meat and Beer).. Hopefully they can continue to stay open and keep well stocked of all grass fed locally sources meat and poultry. Back to the beer....Marble of Doom is a fitting named beverage for Quarantining during our pandemic. Coming in at a mild 5.5% ABV, this sour grabs you like a king cobra. An amazing bright red tone with boysenberries, plums, and exotic black raspberries creates a waterfall of tartness and fruit in a full-flavored American Sour. The can is a comic inspired snake, something like a hot sauce label from Hot Ones and sets up for an intense libation! This is a must try for anyone who can handle a good SOUR!
